Design your large planter boxes. Make an estimate of the outline dimensions. Create a wooden frame out the appropriate size plywood. You need a bottom piece and four sides, but without the top. Nails frame together loosely so that it is easy to remove when done. This will be your external frame.
Measure the internal dimensions of your frame. Creates a second frame that is 4 inches (10.16 cm) shorter on each side and 2 inches (5.08 cm) shorter in height. This will be your internal frame. Again, this framework nailed together just enough to hold it so that it can also be removed.
Prepare the concrete for large planter boxes mix in accordance with the instructions of the stock mixture. Pour the concrete into the outer frame at a depth of two inches (5.08 cm) to form the basis of your planter.
